1965 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 Manual

This is the best of the bunch when it comes to Mk2 Jaguars!

Orignal 3.8 litre, manual overdrive with limited slip diff.

Supplied new to South Africa (dry climate with righthand drive cars) in 1965, then returned to the UK in 1993 the car has had 4 owners since, the last since 2010.

The car has been subject to a programme of restoration and improvement in the past 16 years, focussing on performance and drivability, these include:

A full engine rebuild in 2010 (20,000 miles since).

Front suspension rebuilt, subframe mounts, front crossmember, valance and "crows feet" replaced (2018).

Rear suspension rebuild with new springs, bushes, mounts and shocks (2019).

5 new chrome wire wheels and tyres (2019).

Rebuilt 2"HD8 carbs & high torque starter motor (2019).

Full stainless steel exhaust including freeflow manifold (2021).

New clutch and "Flamethrower" electronic distributor (2023).

    Evans waterless coolant.

The car also has remote central locking (!) and Clifford alarm, and a very expensive Autosound retro looking radio which has USB connection and 6 CD multichanger and a radio that works and you can hear!

The result of all this is that the car is a lively performer, it runs and drives very well, the ride is smooth and comfortable with no crashing or banging over the bumps.

You can cruise comfortably and quietly in overdrive top, or drop a gear and wind it up producing a lovely throaty growl and surprise a few modern car drivers!

The bodywork is quite presentable although there are few blemishes in the Old English white paintwork if you look closely but nothing that requires immediate attention.

The chrome work is again generally good, there are a couple of spots on the bumpers, but for the most part it polishes up well.

The interior is quite smart, and a nice place to be, it has obviously had some improvements done over the years, the woodwork looks good, the headlining is very good, the seats I think have been restuffed and perhaps re "Connellised" a few years back, whilst they have the odd mark on them, they look a lot smarter than original untouched seats, but there are no invoices for interior wok on file.

The carpets look to have been replaced in the last few years.

There is a very nice Mota Lita wood rimmed steering wheel or if you prefer the original wheel is in the boot.

In the boot, the paintwork is clean, the mat looks new-ish, opening the spare wheel well reveals an unused new wheel and tyre. Sat in it is the complete original Jaguar tool kit. There is also a good quality car cover.

The previous owner always had the car MOT tested, despite the exemption, the last one ran out last year, but the car will be sold serviced and with a new MOT certificate.

There it is, if you want a show pony, this probably isn't the car for you, but if you want a well sorted car to use and enjoy then it may just be the one....

Part exchange possible, what have you got?

please call to arrange a test drive.
