1967 Sunbeam Alpine Series 5
This is a rather nice example of the Rootes Group's sports car, finished in Carnival Red, it has a great history file detailing its ownership throughout the 1980's when it was owned by a Jack Orwin in Wales, he prepared the car along with his wife, fitted his private registration number, 7 JKO and entered over 30 concours events between 1981 and 1993, winning the Sunbeam owners club nationals several times as well as quite a lot of other silverware!
The car has been featured in several magazines including Classic & Sportscar, Car Style, Classic Cars for Sale even Mayfair in the 1980's (there are copies of these mags in the paperwork!).
It was stated back in the early 80's when Jack prepared the car for showing it was very original, when a customer was looking for a good, sound, original Alpine in 2020, I sourced this one in Henley on Thames.
It has been very well cared for, maintained and regularly used in the last 6 years by its engineer owner, now come back to me in part exchange.

Some of the highlights are:
gearbox and overdrive rebuilt, new tyres, new servo, front callipers, rear wheel cylinders, brake and clutch master cylinders, head gasket, fuel pump, reconditioned electronic distributor, intermittent wipers, retro looking modern radio with electric Ariel, even an electronically controlled cooling system for the ignition coil!
The car still presents very well, we think most of the paintwork is from the 1980's, so there are minor blemishes hear and there, the chrome has some blemishes, but the overall condition is of a car that is very original and well cared for. All of the improvements made by the previous owner are reversible, but they all help to make the car more useable in modern traffic.
There are many old mot certificates in the paperwork and the car has been mot'd virtually all its life, including in the previous ownership, the current mot runs out in March 2027
There is an issue currently with the clutch thrust bearing which will be sorted soon, then the car will be ready for test drives.
