1969 MGC GT 3 Litre Auto in Snowberry white with black interior.
Mot tested until 8th June 2023.
This is a very good example of this rare and very capable GT car.
One of 355 righthand drive automatic cars built, supplied new by H.W. Motors of Walton upon Thames and registered on 1st January 1969.
The car appears to have been restored in the 1990's and well kept and sparingly used since, therefore the car has the feel of an older restoration, with lovely "mellowed" interior with the proper MG smell which is lost in an "everything new" restoration. The original headlining, rubber mats and "bus" steering wheel are in place, the red piped black leather seats are nicely aged but still look good. The spare wheel area is very smart with a gleaming new spare wheel and tyre and a specially made tray to stop the jack and hammer bouncing about damaging the paintwork.
The structure of the car is excellent as can be seen in the pictures, all the box sections, inner wings, etc are very sound. There are a few small blemishes in the paintwork as you would expect of an older restoration.
Under the bonnet everything is neat and tidy, the engine starts easily and runs very smoothly with good oil pressure, pulling like a train with a rorty exhaust note when required, but settling to a gentle burble when cruising.
Subject to much recent expenditure on improvements the car really does drive very well, the power steering combined with the automatic gearbox makes life a lot easier for the driver, having driven the car 60 miles home I was very impressed!
These works include:
5 new chrome wire wheels and tyres (£1870)
4 new splined hubs (£300)
rear axle fully reconditioned (£2080)
MGOC ball jointed front suspension kit (£1847 fitted).
MGOC power steering kit (£2200 fitted) (not electric, the kit includes a new rack, pump, reservoir, pipes and bracket)
Accuspark electronic ignition kit and new fuel pump (£482 fitted).
Full stainless steel sports exhaust.
New fuel tank.
There is a large history file with the car which details most of the expenditure, lots of old mots and tax disks. it shows that the car had a new speedometer fitted in 2105 when the mileage read 86460, it now reads 2200, so it would be safe to assume the total mileage is in the region of 89,000 covered by its seven owners.
This really is a very well "sorted" car, looking smart, ready to hop in and go, rather than a freshly restored untested car, so if you like using and driving your cars, this could be the one!
Delivery can be arranged at a very competitive price.
Sorry, now SOLD
